Project Overview

This project was commissioned in 2023 in my role as Decolonising Economics Co-Director to support the Good Ancestor Movement (GAM) team in the development of a financing vehicle for solidarity economy initiatives.

Through community knowledge principles and practice, we centered the expertise and guidance of global majority and working class community solidarity organisers in their vision for an effective resourcing infrastructure to support their efforts. From political analysis, to frameworks, case-studies and community insight, we built a set of recommendations to be taken forward by GAM.

Project Outcome

The report established the foundations and principles of GAM's new resourcing vehicle that aimed to move private wealth into community control. In its first year, this vehicle distributed £500,000 to solidarity economy initiatives across the UK, with a commitment to continue pooling resources.
