Project Overview
The Nourishing Economics programme included a series of retreats, workshops, hang-outs, community dinners and collaborations between 40 global majority solidarity economy organisers in 2023 and 2024.
It was the north star for Decolonising Economics from its launch series in 2022 — a way for us to demonstrate what the mainstream economic justice movement missed or denied. The group spent time in nature to connect, heal and dream about a future in which the economy was based on the practices of care and liberation. We built deep relationships, experimented with new projects and collaborated across organisations.
Project Outcome
Nourishing Economics aimed to build the leadership of global majority economic thought and practice. We celebrated the movement's work at the Solidarity Economy Showcase, a day-long festival remembering, experiencing and archiving strategies that move us from extractive racial capitalism to an economy rooted in liberation and care.
Through the programme, we redistributed £100,000 in project funds, resourced people's time for their expertise and participation, and engaged in ritual and practices that held us in safety and ease.
